Security is our main objective.
Mercantil CIS is committed to safeguarding your assets and ensuring that your account information remains private. To this end, we have incorporated the use of state of the art technology and layers of security to ensure that your financial data is protected. These measures allow us to properly authenticate your identity when you access our services online and protect your information as it travels the Internet between your computer and our institution.

State of the Art Encryption
Security begins with the customer's browser. A secure browser will use encryption technology to scramble your information as it flows back and forth between you and our site, rendering it useless to hackers and unauthorized parties. Mercantil CIS requires the use of a secure browser such as Netscape Navigator or Microsoft Internet Explorer. Mercantil CIS has implemented 128-bit encryption to provide an even higher level of security. Encryption protects your data through the scrambling of information so that only authorized Mercantil CIS representatives can access your financial data in its original format.

VeriSign™ Digital Certificate Technology
For added security, Mercantil CIS also offers VeriSign™ digital certificate technology. This added layer of security provides you the added assurance that you are dealing with Mercantil CIS through authentication and the use of Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology, protocol for secure Web-based communications. It also features a built-in security mechanism to ensure that information sent remains private and unchanged, even if intercepted

Firewall protection
We have installed a mechanism known as a "firewall" that acts as an added barrier of protection. Firewalls are intended to keep out unauthorized users out and ensure that information receive can only be accessed by authorized investment firm personnel.

Access I.D.
To ensure that only you can gain access to your accounts we require you to log-on by way of an access code, password and/or PIN (Personal Identification Number). For security reasons we encourage you not to share or inform others, and not use easily identifiable password combinations (for example: children or spouse's names, birth dates or addresses).

Automatic Log-Off
To further protect you, Mercantil CIS will automatically end your session if there is no activity on you PC for an extended period time.

Limited display of account information
As an added security measure, your account numbers will not be displayed in full - only the last six digits will appear.
